Reporting for The Torontonians, here’s Nerupa Somasale:
Recently we’ve been filming promo videos for our event, Dare Nite: Lockdown Edition. The day before that, we spent some of our time in the office sketching out storyboards for the scenes we’d like to film.
Right on the spot I knew exactly how I wanted mine to be done. I spent hours scribbling in my little sketch book, shading in the little boxes and making sure I got each expression down to the last detail. I got so caught up in making my storyboards look “perfect” I almost forgot we had to actually film them!
A couple of my storyboards:
There were a couple members who sat at the table completely blank and even frustrated. Eventually, we all helped and brainstormed situations and scenes that could further stretch their storyboards. After discussing the episodes we created, Darren took us outside for some fresh air and to scout for settings to have them filmed. I honestly couldn’t wait for the next day when we would start filming.
One of most important things that make an event successful is how well it is advertised to the public and the amount of positive feedback you receive. Creating these short clips and putting them out there will hopefully bring more attraction to our event. Please stay tuned for our promo vids! Oh, and if you’re reading this right now, YOU GOTTA COME! Or do you not have the “gongdoh” to make it through the whole night?
Part of the SummerWorks Festival, The Torontonians Dare Night Lockdown performance art/sleepover event takes place Aug. 10 7:00pm – Aug. 11 10:00am in the Ballroom. Spook ya later!
