The Sketchbook Project is a mobile library of handmade sketchbooks contributed to by thousands of creative people from across the globe. The Project encourages everyone — from anywhere — regardless of their creative background, to create and share their process with the public.
Participants sign up online (2013 registration now underway) to receive a blank sketchbook, then fill it with artwork and mail it back. The results are cataloged in the Brooklyn Art Library’s permanent collection, displayed online in the Digital Library, and exhibited at museums and arts festivals from coast to coast including right here at The Gladstone July 19th (opening reception), 6-10pm at the 2nd floor gallery. Have you ever imagined sleeping amidst a fairy glen with a giant erotic fun fur canyon scene of husky wood nymphs frolicking in a forest glade? Then you should step inside Room 304 Faux Naturelle by Allyson Mitchell. This woodsy retreat where lesbian separatist commune meets Storybook Gardens will have you dreaming in colour.
Artist Heather Mattoon dignifies cats on this Catual Friday by painting them in clothes. Her aptly named site, Cats in Clothes offers a wide selection of fine art giclee prints with brief bio descriptions for each cat.
Mattoon will even custom paint your cat in clothes if you’re so inclined.
We give this 2 paws up.
Recently dubbed the Queen of Parkdale, Miss Fluffy Soufflé has stumbled onto stages across town and beyond, recently completing a FOUR-city tour of Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Oshawa & Montreal. Just toss her on stage and call it performance art.
Fluffy is no stranger to the docents gone wild role either. She not only stars as the wildest docent in the above tailor, but caused numerous tour group members to spit out their mimosas during fits of laughter during the inaugural Docents Gone Wild Tour back in May.
Here are some the highlights:
Don’t miss out on Miss Fluffy’s encore performance tour this Saturday July 11. Tours meet at the front desk of the Hotel at 1pm sharp. Admission is $15 and includes the tour and a mimosa! Buy Tickets online for July 11 here.
