Lindsay Montgomery is an artist working across a variety of media including ceramics, video, painting, and puppetry. She holds degrees from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and the University of Minnesota. Her work has been exhibited internationally, and in recent exhibitions at the Gardiner Museum, the Burlington Art Centre, and Craft Ontario.
Throughout the duration of the exhibition Montgomery transforms her room into Third Eye Experimental Figure Theater. Bringing together elements of installation, puppetry, and performance, the piece offers additional moments for interaction throughout CUTMR’15. Viewers will be invited to observe performances intended more as kinetic sculpture then traditional theater, and a variety of local musicians will provide the score for each work.
Come Up To My Room 2015 (CUTMR) is the Gladstone Hotel’s 12th annual alternative design event. 25 installations, 40 artists, and 4000 visitors, and with an extended run of 10 days! CUTMR invites artists and designers to show us what goes on inside their heads. Coming together in dialogue and collaboration, participants are limited only by their imaginations, making CUTMR one of the most exciting shows in Toronto. The exhibition, curated by Jaclyn Blumas, Robert Cram and Caitlin Plewes, as been running for over a decade and was voted the People’s Choice for the 2014 Toronto Design Offsite Festival.
