Launch
of the New Issue of Broken Pencil “The Food Issue”
Featuring “Indie” Iron Chef
In celebration of the brand new Food Issue of BP that will launch
at Canzine, we feature the never before done “Indie” Iron
Chef – indie artists are pitted against each other in a frenzy
of creative action. What will the secret ingredient be? Wait and
see!!! Hosted by Friendly Rich, confirmed participants include
artist/writer Darren O'Donnell, writer/comedian David Dineen-Porter
(aka PDF Format) with more TBA plus special guest judges.

Canada’s brightest and weirdest will be creating environments
to explore. Check out: Mark Laliberte - Pop Noir button series.
Jonathan Culp - Grilled Cheese Sandwich room.
Amy Lam - Funny Food/Bad Taste (a room about comedy and food).
Fabienne Good - Tree planting room – come see the hotel forest.
Jon Pressick - Trade Queer Zine memorial room. The death of Trade
memorial service (open casket).
Radical Reading Series
In association with This Is Not A Reading Series, we present the
launch of GOOD MEAT
Pages Books & Magazines, Broken Pencil Magazine, and Pedlar
Press present a special Canzine edition of This Is Not A Reading
Series: DANI COUTURE launches GOOD MEAT (Pedlar Press) Join Couture
as well as several other food obsessed zinesters for interactive
meat cooking lessons, zinester munchies, and more! Good Meat is
a collection of poetry that revolves around the varying complex
relationships we have with the things we eat.
All Day Underground Video Screening
Open Screening and Curated program by James King. Special food
curated program. All are welcome to bring videos (VHS or DVD
only, 10 minutes and under) to show to the world. Register in
advance by emailing canzinevideo@brokenpencil.com. Or just show
up with your video.
Workshop
Making Puppets Out of Junk
Indie puppeteer Mike Harding (famous for his Curtains person, host
of the Brampton Indie Arts Festival) conducts a hands-on workshop.
Learn how to make a puppet out of found objects and trash.
