Fareena Chanda is a multi-disciplinary artist and the co-founder of The Friday Collective, a creative business which makes art to inspire reflection. Fareena Chanda’s studio-practice uses a process-based inquiry to explore themes of self-knowledge. Using time-based media and installation-art practices, her work incorporates materiality, embodiment and hapticity to create immersive experiences.
From Now Until The End, And Now Again explores the human relationship to our mortality. A walk through a fantastical garden to a final resting place evokes contemplation on our preparedness to face the end. The immersive mixed-media installation invites the viewer to commit their mind and body to the physical space around them and imagine themselves undergoing sublimation. The piece aims to heighten our perception of our temporality in this world by ultimately asking each individual ‘where are you headed?’
Come Up To My Room 2015 (CUTMR) is the Gladstone Hotel’s 12th annual alternative design event. 25 installations, 40 artists, and 4000 visitors, and with an extended run of 10 days! CUTMR invites artists and designers to show us what goes on inside their heads.
