Sunday was a scary day in the Art Bar with The Monster Factory hosting an interactive plush party and the launch of their first ever customizable characters: The Ghosties!
Party goers had the chance to stuff, stitch up and decorate their very own Ghostie monster with plenty of fabric markers and paints on hand for customizing, and of course some monster making experts to help along the way.
Here are some of the creative/spooky results:
Thanks Monster Factory and everyone who came to dress up a Ghostie!

If you’re unsure about the user experience design of your site, consider signing up for the UX in TO User Experience Workshops presented by Rosenfeld and Hypenotic, November 28th-30th, here at the Hotel.
It’s simple: three days, with a different workshop taught each day. Each workshop runs 9am-5pm; show up at 8:30am to grab your badge and have breakfast.
The workshops will balance current issues, like prototyping for mobile devices, with topics that always have and always will matter, like usability testing. Classes are limited to 50 attendees so lessons will be intimate and intensive.
Stop programming in circles and sign up for the UX in TO and find out how you can get a UX to start working for you.
Grab a bottle of vino, enjoy some antipasto and let Ashley Burton’s one woman show, Nonna’s Party, take you on a hilarious Sicilian journey.
Find out what happens when Nonna is a no-show for her own surprise 85th birthday party, and her granddaughter “Ash-a-ly” is left to entertain guests with stories of the feisty Sicilian grandmother.
Compared to Tony and Tina’s Wedding and My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Nonna’s Party will be a no-nonsense good time.
Come at 6:30 and mangia at the Anitpasto Bar or at 8:00 to catch just the show portion, either way you can find tickets online or by calling 1-888-222-6680.
Flying in from the UK, we are totally spaz’n to have Electro Swing Club founder, Max Pashm, in the Ballroom this Friday. That’s right, our favourite prohibition swing party with a contemporary edge is about to get edgier, with Max Pashm and Toronto talent Tia Brazda swinging down the house with Electro Swing beats, live bands, visuals, burlesque and vintage dress code in effect.
Max Pashm first rose to fame in 1997 as one of the early pioneers of dance & electronic world fusion music. He was signed to Sony Music in 1997 and the single ‘Queen of Sikim’ taken from his debut album, was a worldwide hit and reached the top of the charts in many European countries.
The ‘Max Pashm’ sound is a unique blend of Electro Swing, Balkan Beats, Klezmer and Gypsy Electronica with blistering club beats. A daring and perfect marriage fusing the old traditions with the new and cutting edge sounds of today and the future.
Max’s live shows are infamous, combining uplifting live percussion, vocal and keyboards with beat mixing and general showmanship and sense of humor and fun on stage. His DJ sets are equally energizing and unique, spining mixes that no one has heard before, as well as his own tunes and classic tracks by other artists.
Party like prohibition is ending this Friday with Max Pashm and Electro Swing Club 10pm in the Ballroom. Oh, and don’t forget to dress up!
