Amy Markanda is a designer based in Toronto, Canada and a graduate of the Furniture Design Program at Sheridan College. Amy’s pieces are characterized by simplicity and minimalist form combined with strong relationships between volumes and forms. Naturally curious, she continues to explore the potential of different mediums and new ecologically friendly processes. She strives to create unique and carefully resolved pieces that are durable, timeless and responsibly made.
Zanette Singh is a multi-disciplinary artist but is best known for her black and white ink drawings. Her work explores the psychological body through desire, loss and vulnerability. Using themes of race, gender and sexuality to magnify the collisions and bridges of where they intersect in our bodies. Zanette is the Co-founder of CUE, CUE is a radical arts initiative that offers high access funding to artists working on the margins of the mainstream.
Come Up To My Room (CUTMR) is the Gladstone Hotel’s annual alternative design event. CUTMR invites artists and designers to show us what goes on inside their heads. Coming together in dialogue and collaboration, participants are limited only by their imaginations, making CUTMR one of the most exciting shows in Toronto. January 24 – 27, 2013.
