The unique spiralling motion is the key component in the design of the v chair. The v chair is comprised of no 90 degree angles, much like the letter “v” itself. It’s structure is based on a series of (linear, straight) spiralling, angular legs. The v chair’s intention for use is a compromise between an object of everyday use and art installation. It evokes excitement by enticing the user to experience how movement creates a functional, stable chair and admirable art piece. Special thank you to Liz Fenuta, Craig Crane and Modern Upholstery Metal Frame Ltd. for their generous contributions to this project. Designed by Kat Velez as part of the Chair Prototypes: Digital Fabrication at Humber College ITAL project.
Come Up To My Room (CUTMR) is the Gladstone Hotel’s annual alternative design event. CUTMR invites artists and designers to show us what goes on inside their heads. Coming together in dialogue and collaboration, participants are limited only by their imaginations, making CUTMR one of the most exciting shows in Toronto. January 24 – 27, 2013.
