The Curve Line chair is an amalgamation of simplicity and function. It was designed to reflect the gentle curves in nature. These curves can be seen in the outdoors in streams, waterfalls, through the various temperament of behavior that water can take. This can also be observed in the human body. Just as water bends, the various curves in which we bend our bodies to produce comfort are replicated through the curve lines of the chair. The maple represents the curves in water and body, and the lines of the steel frame represent our body’s stability. Designed by Sonia Skwark as part of the Chair Prototypes: Digital Fabrication at Humber College ITAL project.
Come Up To My Room (CUTMR) is the Gladstone Hotel’s annual alternative design event. CUTMR invites artists and designers to show us what goes on inside their heads. Coming together in dialogue and collaboration, participants are limited only by their imaginations, making CUTMR one of the most exciting shows in Toronto. January 24 – 27, 2013.
