Originally from Trinidad, Tara Keens-Douglas received her Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, in 2011. Her design work was selected for joint exhibition at the Cambridge Galleries in Ontario. Her thesis work studies the relationship of Trinidad’s carnival festival to personal architecture and the spaces they create and occupy. It challenges architectural representation through costume design that embodies the transformative experiences of the masquerader. Her design work has been published in DOMUS (Israel), MORF (Netherlands), Dezeen and Wallpaper online galleries.
Come Up To My Room (CUTMR) is the Gladstone Hotel’s annual alternative design event. CUTMR invites artists and designers to show us what goes on inside their heads. Coming together in dialogue and collaboration, participants are limited only by their imaginations, making CUTMR one of the most exciting shows in Toronto. January 24 – 27, 2013.
