CUTMR 11 marks the start of a new decade for Toronto’s biggest alternative design event. In a one-weekend spectacle, 60 artists and designers are given full reign over Toronto’s iconic heritage hotel, creating 25 provocative installations.
Staying true to its distinguishing off-the-cuff curatorial process rooted in urgency, risk, discovery and trust, CUTMR 11 encourages exhibitors to bend their disciplinary boundaries. Above all, CUTMR 11 celebrates the surprise of what’s revealed in the final moments–the 11th hour–of the creative process.
CUTMR 2014 will include special programming tied to the exhibition. On Saturday, January 25th, the annual Love Design party will attract revelers from across the city to the Gladstone’s ballroom, which will feature a one-night-only design installation created specifically for this event by Justin Broadbent. New this year, a comedic affair hosted by Stephen Eyes brings out the lighter side of design and hosts interviews in a playful musical evening event.
