Antoine Morris is one of the founders and principals of The Practice of Everyday Design, which was started in 2009 to engage in installation art, product design, and building design. The Practice is committed to forming new design opportunities by merging seemingly irreconcilable ideas. A strong conceptual framework forms the foundation for their explorations in design, each piece stemming from a simple idea or story then taking on a life of its own.
Here are his top picks of local happenings:
1. Taking advantage of his membership, Antoine heads to AGO pretty much every Sunday and likes to think of it as an extension of his living room. Him and his girlfriend recommend choosing a couple of rooms to wander through, never too many, and then ending up at the upper cafe with a couple of good books.
2. “Getting out to the island is pretty unbeatable. Even if just for a couple of hours, I instantly feel like I’ve just gone on vacation.” And we tend to agree.
3. Karaoke in Koreatown. Antoine suggests any of the free places as the main event, or the postscript to a long and eventful evening.
