The Brock McGuire Band is the recipient of the Instrumental Band of the Decade Award from the Irish American News and the Top of the World Award from Songlines, a world music magazine. The group is fronted by two of Ireland’s most celebrated traditional musicians—Paul Brock, accordion, and Manus McGuire, fiddle. They are joined by Garry O’Meara, banjo, mandolin and vocals, and Denis Carey, pianist. Together the group performs a repertoire of traditional Irish music mixed with a bit of bluegrass, American old timey, French-Canadian and Celtic.
The group has performed in venues from London to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. Their latest CD, “Green Grass Blue Grass,” features Grammy winner Ricky Skaggs and is considered a masterpiece by American Music critic Bill Margeson.
“The Brock McGuire Band was stunning, spreading their magic blend of virtuosity and old style traditional charm across the stage and into our hearts. Not only was their performance outstanding as always, but their selection of material was delightfully novel, including a refreshing mix of beautiful vintage tunes, original compositions and familiar favourites that showcased their considerable talents in just the perfect light” – Gordon McLeod, Southwest Celtic Music Association (Dallas, Texas)
