Learn how to create your very own spooky Halloween-themed piece using simple cross-stitch techniques! We will have patterns of Frankenstein, Jack Skellington, a Death Head moth, and others to choose from. This class is perfect for beginners, and is an excellent way to keep busy on transit, in a coffee shop, or while watching TV. Located in the Gladstone Hotel’s Melody Bar, this workshop is a casual, fun opportunity to learn to stitch while having a drink. Come join us and get crafty!
What will we cover?
You will learn the basic “cross” stitch. Once you have mastered this stitch, you will learn how to use a counted cross-stitch pattern to complete a finished piece—your cross stitch in a bamboo hoop. We will also discuss the different materials available, add-ons, and where to buy your own supplies for future projects.
What you need to bring?
If you’d like to take notes, please bring your own notebook and pen. Otherwise, all cross stitch materials will be provided for you! You will be provided with a kit including:
– Embroidery hoop
– Embroidery needles
– DMC thread
– Aida cloth
– Counted cross stitch pattern
Who will be teaching?
Michelle Gauthier is an artist and graduate from OCAD University, with a degree in Criticism and Curatorial practices. She uses cross-stitching and embroidery to facilitate conversations around societal norms, as well as to inspire others to see ‘ordinary’ things differently.
