Montreal’s Orchestral Indie-Pop sensation Groenland is making a much anticipated stop at the Gladstone Hotel as part of their ‘A Wider Space’ tour on November 24! Guelph’s Lowlands will opening the show at 8:30PM with their signature sounds inspired by dreamscapes, folklore and the stark, harshness of Canadian landscape.
Groenland toured Europe in Spring of 2015 and Canada in 2013, performing in numerous festivals and events including Osheaga, M for Montreal, Festival Off-Courts in Trouville-sur-mer (France), the Showcase and Celebration of Canadian Musician Excellence (Canadian Grammy Night in LA), the Reeperbahn Festival in Germany and the Montreal Jazz Festival. They have played alongside renowned artists such as St. Vincent, Local Natives, Mac DeMarco and Half Moon Run. The sextet’s music has been featured on TV shows The Good Wife (CBS) and Les beaux malaises (TVA), a Canadian iPhone/Bell ad as well as an iPad ad narrated by Martin Scorsese (which premiered during the Academy Awards!). Lowlands’ draw inspiration from dreamscapes, folklore and the stark, harshness of Canadian landscape. The Instrumentation of the group is perfectly supported the co-songwriting of Gordon Auld and Abe Del Bel Belluz. With the support of local musicians and songwriters Matt Monoogian and Joseph Gallo Jr. the band brings their dark and unique blend of country, delta blues and bluegrass into venues across Canada. With their first full-length release of “Huron” the group plan to release a record dedicated to each great lake and are following through with the upcoming release of “Erie” in fall 2016.
