Laura Repo brings her love for country music to The Melody Bar with songs from the country women she adores. She takes you on a walk through country music history with songs by Dolly, Loretta, Kitty, The Carter Family, Ola Belle Reed, Jean Ritchie and more. She is backed by The Country Band, a rotating cast of formidable local musicians, all with a great love and respect for the country music tradition. Her last recording was called, “Get Yourself Home”, produced by Anderw Collins of The Foggy Hogtown Boys. It was dedicated to her father for all the songs and singing he passed on to her.
“Repo’s singing and songwriting are right up there with the best in her genre. It’s no stretch to mention her in the same breath as Emmylou Harris, Roseanne Cash and Lucinda Williams.”
– Howard Druckman, Editor of SOCAN’s Words + Music magazine,
“On her affecting third album, Laura Repo wins with lullabies, lovely harmonies and one high-and-lonesome ballad about a city where she can unwind. Get Yourself Home explores bygones – things missed and things gained, not always in black and white. Tuneful and relazed, this record never stops.”
Brad Wheeler, The Globe and Mail
“Like Gillian Whelch, Laura Repo has a classic voice and gentle way of conveying weariness…”
Sarah Greene, Now Magazine
