Forró is one on the most popular musical genres of Northeastern Brazil. Based on the music of the accordion, zabumba, and the triangle, it is a music to be danced to! Traditionally in a partnered, waltz-like style of dance, that also incorporates influences of other dance styles such as Salsa.
Maria Bonita and the Band is a Toronto based Forró group, incorporating the three main instruments of Forró as well as fiddle, drums and others, and fronted by Jerusa Leao, a talented singer and musician from Brazil.
Each Monday starting in May, Maria Bonita and the Band will present an exciting live show, with a great repertoire. Occasionally the band will feature special guest performers and DJs, and will ALWAYS provide a cozy place for a a little bit of post-work fun on a Monday, plus a perfect reason to dance!
