New Works by Stella Cade March 4th – March 31 (12-5pm Daily) in the 4th Floor Gallery.
Opening Reception March 8th, 7-10pm, 2018
The Gladstone Hotel is pleased to present new works by Stella Cade as part of our annual emerging artist program in our 4th Floor Gallery.
Stella Cade explores worlds of abstracted figuration in which emotion is the driving measure. This body of work explores the human inclination to run toward the familiar and the ritualized in the wake of chaos. Quiet, introspective and often painfully vulnerable; the figures reveal emotional experiences that are infrequently witnessed by others. The paintings create a world where feeling is fact and experience is acknowledged as truth. The work seeks to discover where ritual exists within the intersection of trauma and healing.
Stella Cade (1988, Toronto) has studied at the Art Students League, Concordia University and received her BFA from OCADU in 2013. Her work explores the intersections of trauma, ritual and healing. Cade was awarded the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition in 2011 and The Donna Maclean Award for portraiture and representational painting from OCADU in 2013. Most recently Cade has been exhibited at Katzman Contemporary and Angell Gallery. Her work has been included in the 2017 collections for Art with Heart, ArtsEffect and Art Gems.
