Edmonton’s own prairie balladeer is in Toronto to release his fourth album One More Time Around with special guests Corin Raymond, Brian MacMillan and Scott Galloway.
Albertan roots troubadour Scott Cook is a tirelessly traveling songwriter with heart forever on sleeve. He has been making a full-time living at music since 2007, touring extensively across Canada, the US, Europe and Asia, and brings all those years of roads and a deep love of humanity to his songcraft and storytelling. His straight-talking tunes weave together folk, roots, blues, soul and country influences with spacious fingerpicked arrangements on guitar, banjo and ukulele. Scott is currently touring in support of his fourth release, One More Time Around, an extended dialogue between optimism and despair–at the level of our individual lives, our broken relationships, and our society as a whole. Its opening track “Pass It Along” won the Folk and Acoustic category in the 2013 UK Songwriting Contest, and UK magazine Maverick Country has named him “one of Canada’s most inspiring and imaginative storytellers,” while three-time Juno winner David Francey sums it up thusly: “Scott Cook has distilled his travels down into songs powered by a sharp eye for imagery, a healthy dose of humanity, and that unforgettable voice, that at the same time intones the rigors of the road and the most comfortable couch you have ever slept on.”
Scott is heading off on a nine-month tour around the world, but is stopping in for one night in Toronto before he leaves. For this special CD release event, Scott will be joined by Brian MacMillan on guitar and Scott Galloway on keys. Local favourite Corin Raymond will open the show with a set of music at 9pm.
