After having stayed in most of the 37 artist-designed rooms here at the hotel, long-running Food Network Canada host, artist, 7-time Guinness World Record holder, non-stop traveller and self-styled gastronaut, Bob Blumer has re-imagined and redesigned Room 403.
Guided by his signature surreal foodie aesthetic, Blumer has created an art-meets-food sanctuary, aptly named, the Surreal Gourmet room.
To celebrate this union of food + art + hotel, we’re throwing a deliciously inspired Open House party on November 12th and you’re invited!
The Open House:
Grab a drink in the Melody Bar then head up to the Surreal Gourmet room 403 and check out Bob Blumer’s surreal design for yourself. From the Swiss cheese canopy over the bed and Fruit Loops armoire, to the marshmallow pillows and original photography by local artist Fausta Facciponte, there’s lots to eat up in this room.
Once you’ve filled up on Surreal Gourmet aesthetic, join us downstairs in the Melody bar where we’ll be serving:
- Drink tickets to the first 100 guests
- Complimentary snacks inspired by Bob Blumer’s surreal style and prepared by our Executive Chef, Mario Paz
- Drink specials available for everyone!
- Tunes, because every party is better with a DJ, especially when it’s local music fave DJ Joe Blow.
The Food Truck:
To top it all off… the icing on the cake… the bacon on the doughnut…
We’ve teamed up with local delicatessen pals at Capalansky’s who will be parking their Thunderin’ Thelma food truck just outside the party at Queen West and Gladstone. As an ode to the Surreal Gourmet, Caplansky’s will be dishing out some really delicious party treats like:
Deep fried p-nut butter and beef bacon sandwich ($8), Smoked meat gravy poutine ($8) and even a Maple beef bacon donut ($1).
