The Good asian Drivers:
Based out of NYC, the band is comprised of Melissa Li, award-winning singer-songwriter prominent in the Boston area for over 8 years, Kit Yan, a Lizard Lounge national slam team veteran who won the world’s largest slam before the age of 21, and their newest addition, Ashley Baier, veteran drummer with over 15 years performing experience. Combined, both Li and Yan have played at over a hundred clubs, colleges, and other venues both locally and nationally. They have been featured in Curve, the best-selling lesbian magazine in the nation, the San Francisco Times, and Hyphen, a widely-read Asian-American magazine.
“Where Were You in the 1980′s?,” hosted by Gurbeen Bhasin with some of Toronto’s up and coming queer artists, this event will be an 80′s flashback with heart. A full piece band including piano, drums and bass will accompany this one hour set which will feature comedy, spoken word/performance and live music and spotlight some of the issues happening in the 1980′s such as AIDS and the movement of queer rights.
