Eileen Rothe is a rocker with a poetic soul. Her classical training has led her to a powerful, piano-driven style that suits her soulful, edgy voice. Eileen’s EP “Dream Girl” (Hipposonic Records) was produced by Jeff Dawson (known for his work with artists such as Holly McNarland and Daniel Powter). Eileen is touring Canada this spring and is has made the Gladstone her first Toronto stop! She will perform a solo piano show dont miss this amazing opportunity to hear her music.

The Backstabbers Country Stringband is a Queen West institution, it’s members having purveyed their own original take on old-time acoustic country music for almost a decade on this fair street. “Prodigal Sundays” will showcase the Backstabbers doing their thing the way nobody else does it. I Am Elvis is a collection of intimate portraits featuring impersonators who attended the Collingwood Elvis Festival in 2007. These portraits are a telling study of the faces of those who live to embody a larger-than-life figure, the King  one of the most popular icons in rock and roll history.

Exposed showcases the work of 39 contemporary photographers (both established and emerging) whose work depicts personal or social history, explores or exposes memory, initiates or documents discussions or invites significant debate. In keeping with CONTACT 2008’s thematic focus, Exposed explores photography’s role in depicting and determining personal and collective memory as it relates to and defines history. The exhibition is co-produced by the Gladstone Hotel and SpeakEasy Events. Curated by David Brown and Chris Mitchell.
