About The FreePlay Duo (featured artist)
DORA award-winning, JUNO-nominated vocalist, pianist and percussionist Suba Sankaran effortlessly combines musical worlds. While studying European classical piano and voice, she also immersed herself in south Indian classical music with her father, master drummer Trichy Sankaran. Juno-nominated Dylan Bell is a vocalist, instrumentalist, composer/arranger, music director and producer/engineer.
Together, Suba Sankaran and Dylan Bell are the FreePlay Duo. Described as “inspired eclecticism”, Dylan and Suba will take you from the concert halls of Europe, to the jazz clubs of Manhattan, to the temples of India, and back to the cultural mosaic of Toronto… all without leaving your seat. from Bach to Bird to the Beatles, Dylan and Suba effortlessly cross musical boundaries, continually combining and recombining sounds to create a concert of endless variety, with the intimate delivery of two people.

About Rozina Kazi – LAL (featured artist)
LAL is a musical ensemble that started in 1998. LAL is about music and social change. We are a collective that represent Uganda, Bangladesh, Barbados, India and everything in-between. We sound like everything, thus we sound like nothing. We love all kinds of music from jazz, hip hop, dub, soul, international folk music, experimental music, you name it, we’ve probably listened to it at some point and if not then we’re eager to learn.
At best we describe the sound of LAL as international folk / electronic protest music. We are not about egos or class but we are about vibe. We are instinctive musicians and people and community means a whole lot. Some of us are activists, some of us are not, but we respect each others opinions and we love like family. We believe in creating a strong independent music movement and we will continue to make music as long as we can.

About Alex Hickey (featured artist)
Alex Hickey is a songwriter who specializes in lyrics that are intelligently-written with just the right amount of biting humour. She sings her songs in a crystal-clear, beautiful voice that is reminiscent of Dolly Parton, the McGarrigle sisters and Janis Joplin all rolled into one. An intriguing mix of roots, folk, and blues, Alex’s music is at times catchy, foot-stomping, evil fun and at others, melancholic and thought-provoking.
