This month join musicians, installation artists, video artists, DJ’s and performers as we celebrate 1.5 years of Public Displays of Affection. This event is also fundraiser for PDA’s EP exhibition.

PWYC means you don’t have to pay anything if you can’t or don’t want too. Just come and enjoy the fun!

The night will be focused on socializing and dancing with short performances by Daddy K, Allie Hughes,& This Month Only.

Mix Master par DJ Joe Blow and Sigourney Beaver.

Allie Highes’ theatre-influenced alternative pop songs and her astonishing voice are well worth hearing. She is currently recording her debut album with producers Dave Newfeld (Broken Social Scene), Leon Taheny (Owen Pallett) and Adam King (Run With Kittens) to be released fall 2010. Her unique sound and “quirky” stage presence is unlike any one artist, but comparisons to Kate Bush and Nina Hagen have been made with her new material. New bandmates include Jordan Howard, Randy Lee, Johnny Spence, Bram Gielen and Adam Hindle.

This Month Only consists of a sound artist from Toronto and a video artist from Copenhagen. They will be performing live with a collection of video and sound, both originally captured and found. The project is an attempt to create an installation that explores the correlation between sound and sight, without prioritizing one over the other. For the PDA fundraiser they will create a community specific installation in relation to PDA’s work in Parkdale, and specifically around the Edmond Place building and the people using PARK. It is the attempt to reflect upon the atmosphere of a community and the visions and perspectives of PDA.
