John Monteith’s photography will be part of the Gladstone’s exhibit 10×10: 100 Portraits opening reception on Thursday June 28 from 7 to 10 p.m. 10×10 is a photography project celebrating Canadian queers involved in the arts. The project features 10 LGBT photographers focusing on 10 LGBT artists to create 100 portraits.
John Monteith graduated in 2008 from the MFA program at Parsons the New School for Design. John exacts a unique way of perceiving experience, memory and the self in global space. Encountering his work results in a consuming collision between the viewer and the depicted subject. Exhibiting internationally his paintings, drawings and collaborative projects have been shown at the Tate Modern, X Initiative, PS 1, and the DUMBO Arts Center in New York. John is represented in Canada by O’Born Contemporary.
