There’s no better way to send off summer than with a seafood feast cooked by one of the most qualified experts in the biz, Kristin Donovan from Hooked! Donovan will be preparing the next Harvest Table Dinner at the Gladstone on August 30th and we wanted you to get to know our next guest chef!
Kristin Donovan is the co-owner and co-founder of Hooked, alongside her husband, Dan Donovan. The two come from backgrounds as professional chefs and decided to shake up the world of fish mongering. As a fish store, sustainability and education are at the core of everything they do. Hooked has a history of linking good food to the community and our environment, which is precisely what our Harvest Table dinners set out to do. Our Harvest Wednesday’s series was established when the Gladstone invested in a share at Chick-a-biddy Acres C.S.A. (Community Shared Agriculture Farm). At the Gladstone, we value knowing where our food has come from and we seek to make meaningful connections with farmers, as well as customers, to develop a better understanding of our consumption.
Everyone working at Hooked is a chef, with an understanding of how to prepare fish, as well as how to catch it without depleting the stock! If it’s not sustainable, they won’t sell it. They’ve set new standards within their industry and are paving a new way forward for sustainable fisheries. Hooked even manages their own freight to ensure they have control over the entire process. The duo also realizes that no matter how well the fish was farmed, you’ve got to cook it properly! Hooked offers cooking classes at their retail locations, teaching the intricacies of cooking fish with as little waste as possible, while maximizing the taste!
We can’t think of a chef better suited to preparing a seafood night at the Gladstone. Enjoy some of Kristin’s thoughtfully selected fish and culinary prowess at this 4-course meal on Wednesday, August 30th! Celebrate a homegrown business fighting the good food fight. Tickets HERE.
