Harvest Wednesdays

Every Wednesday the Gladstone Hotel and Chef Marc Breton offer urbanites farm fresh fare and an opportunity to experience the unparalleled flavour of foods harvested in the natural rhythm of our local growing season.

Each week Chef Breton’s menu is inspired by the fresh produce harvested by farmer Sherry Patterson of Chick-a-Biddy Acres CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) as well as local meats, cheeses, wines and beers from our Harvest Wednesday Partners.

· If You Ate Today Thank A Farmer - The Gladstone supports local farmers through a CSA membership. Join us for Harvest Wednesday where you can enjoy the shared bounty and shared risk of supporting a farmer directly…

· Real Food will Blow Your MindWe want you to experience what food tastes like direct from the farmer, in season. Trust us, it will change you!

· Taste the Season - Reconnect to the natural rhythm of our local growing season. Harvest Wednesdays delivers a compelling seasonal narrative over four months. The story, characters, and flavours evolve as each new chapter unfolds.

· Local Food Heroes - Chef Marc Breton responds to the weekly harvest delivered by Sherry Patterson of Chick A Biddy Acres CSA farm. This gifted chef has 24 hours to take the food from farm to kitchen to table. No wonder the Toronto Food Policy Council named him a Local Food Hero in 2007.

· Be Part of the Movement – What started with one farm four years ago has expanded to include over forty artisan growers. Have a ’staycation’, find out what Ontario has to offer without leaving Toronto.

· Plug In - Come and meet the farmer and producers at our relaxed monthly cocktail party style event. Urban and rural people have a lot in common – You will make new friends.

· Come As You Are - Harvest Wednesday is fun, relaxed and delicious. With good food, music and conversation. We want you to feel as if you’re dining in the orchard.

· Down to Earth - Our kitchen workers and serving staff go to the farm and work at the farmer’s side, pick the bounty, weed the land and learn about food directly from the farmer.

· From the Heart - The Gladstone is a model of values-led entrepreneurial activism. Four years ago Christina Zeidler, owner of The Gladstone Hotel conceived of a local food series that would support local growers and connect them directly to the public. This mandate has grown with our Harvest Wednesday program to develop and expand our local supplier and partner base for the hotel though out the year. We think that Ontarians deserve to eat Ontario food.
