The Gladstone Hotel is committed to environmental leadership in its community. We are dedicated to making our business as "green" as possible and strive to continually evolve the hotel as an environmentally conscious "citizen" and to make 'green' choices.

The Gladstone supports this long-term commitment by incorporating environmental considerations into our purchasing in order to reduce our burden on the local and global environment, removing unnecessary hazards from its operations, protecting public health and potentially improving the environmental quality of the city of Toronto.

This policy is an effective way to direct our specific efforts to procure environmentally preferable products and services.

GREEN INITIATIVES

  • The Gladstone Hotel guest rooms feature all natural amenities made locally by Honey Pie Hive and Herbals.
  • The Gladstone purchases shares in a local CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) farm as part of its strategy to source locally produced ingredients. Guests of the hotel can enjoy the benefits of organic field to table produce from our kitchen. In 2006, the hotel launched a successful series of farm to table culinary events called Harvest Wednesdays which featured in season produce from Chick-a-Biddy Acres CSA farm. Harvest Wednesdays were so well received that the Gladstone plans to grow the series to an annual event. Learn More.
  • The Gladstone Hotel provides sponsorship support to green organizations. Past events include fundraisers for Toronto's Bike Week, Habitat for Humanity , Green Tourism Association, Bullfrog, LEAF, Transit Cam, NaturoPack, Citizen's Environment Watch and others.
