The Gladstone Hotel invites artists working in fibre-related media to submit proposals for installations and wall-hung works for the Gladstone's third annual juried show of textile-based art. Hard Twist calls for work that approaches fibre with twist in mind.
The show will run from Thursday November 7, 2008 to Sunday January 4, 2009 on the third and fourth floors of the hotel.
Hanging/Installation - Physical Criteria:
- All pieces must be able to be hung/installed securely.
- The security hardware supplied by the Gladstone is 2 " x 1" (5.5cm x 1.5 cm), and needs a mount (1.5cm) thick to accommodate the screws.
- Artists whose work is accepted for the show and the nature of whose work makes this type of hanger impractical or undesirable will be encouraged to discuss alternatives with the curators.
Admin fee: $100 + GST = $105 to be paid on acceptance
Entry checklist:
Please include the following in your submission:
- Contact information including telephone number, full mailing address and email address.
- Artist's bio - max 75 wds - Word document
- Artist's statement - max 75 wds - Word document
- Description of proposed work, including size, material and type (installation or wall-hung).
- 3 - 5 images of representative work in jpg format
- Digital Files may be sent as jpgs on a CD or as email attachments. Emailed image files should be no larger than 640 x 480 ppi (72 dpi) and must be numbered and named to correspond with the image list.
- Numbered image list giving size of works, medium and any other relevant details.
Submissions:
- There is no submission fee; the admin fee is only paid on acceptance.
- The deadline is 31 May 2008
- Entries may be submitted by email or surface mail
- If sending your submission by email, please include your name as part of the file names of your attachments. Address your entries to chrism@gladstonehotel.com
- If sending your submission by surface mail, please send your contact information, bio, artist's statement, details of proposed work and the image list in hard copy along with your CD and include a SASE for return of entries which are not accepted. Send your entries to:
