The Gladstone is elated to announce chef Miriam Streiman as the next guest chef for our next Harvest Table Dinner on May 31! Miriam has been nourishing the stomachs and minds of guests at her Boutique Country Inn and Food Studio, Mad Maple since 2012 and we can’t wait to share her philosophy and practice with you.
Miriam has a long and fascinating history in the food community, beginning with the completion of a Culinary Management Program at George Brown College (GBC). From here, Miriam found herself interning at the Food Network. Many of her recipes have been featured and published on television. She has also worked as a food stylist and recipe developer for the multiple productions. Following this time in the food television world, Miriam enrolled in the Italian Culinary Arts Program at GBC where her approach to food evolved even further. All of this culminated in the opening of Mad Maple, Boutique Country Inn and Food Studio. Miriam described the location herself as a “hub for food, arts and culture and a forum for collaboration.” Some favourites from their menu included; Duck Egg Pasta, Foraged Edibles cooked over fire with Runny Poached Eggs, Marzipan Almond Tarts with Caramel Apple Butter and Soma Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Miriam employs food as a means for storytelling which is entirely what Harvest Wednesdays is all about. Harvest Wednesdays offers guests a superb experience from arrival to departure. From the appetizers you taste at the beginning of the meal until the last remnant of dessert is wistfully scraped, the Gladstone offers a unique and authentic food experience. Not only is every bite delicious, but Miriam provides a deeper understanding of where it is coming from and how it relates to you and your community.
Harvest Wednesdays and Chef Miriam Streiman also share the belief in following the rhythm of the seasons to set the menu. With a shared appreciation of both food and nature, as well as the desire to connect people to their relationship with these things makes for a perfect match with the Gladstone Hotel’s core values.
