This year for Nuit Blanche in the Gladstone Gallery we have Occupy the Zoo: a numbers game by Karen Darricades. Occupy the Zoo: a numbers game is an interactive installation involving 42 soft sculptures and a tv. Using props and image theatre audience members will “occupy” vicariously by making one move on behalf of one group; the people, the police, the judges and the media. Will riots break-out? Will the police defect? Make your move(ment) Toronto! karen darricades is a fibre artist, writer, community activist and educator. She creates soft sculptures from re-purposed garments and recycled fabrics. Her personifications of the animal world explore the dynamics of power, human costuming and the politics of social organizing. She will be constructing a life-sized motorcycle from silk blouses as part of the World of Threads Festival 2012.
