Op carpet by Bev Hisey
Handtufted pure wool, 2010
In the beginning of 1980s Hisey taught herself pattern making, garment construction and sewing, which led to her designing, producing and retailing her own clothing collection. After attending the upholstery programme at George Brown College, Hisey transitioned to re-modeling and updating vintage and antique furniture pieces and to producing a collection of soft furnishings. Hisey mostly produces her works in Canada, but when working with producers in India she works with Goodweave, which guarantees there is no child labor in the making of her carpets. Hisey currently works out of her studio space on Dundas-west in Toronto.
This piece come to us from MADE, a design product retailer located on Dundas-west, a longtime friend of the Gladstone Hotel.
