ARTIST STATEMENT

Room 304 feels like a woodsy retreat where lesbian separatist commune meets Storybook Gardens . The hotel guest staying in this fairy glen will have a jumb-o-tron view of a bevy of husky wood nymphs frolicking in a forest glade via a giant erotic fun fur canyon scene covering the largest wall in the room.

ARTIST BIO

Allyson Mitchell is a maximalist artist who creates visual arts and installation with fun fur, found objects and abandoned crafts. She is a co-founder of the fat activist/performance group Pretty Porky and Pissed Off. As well, she has produced 22 films and videos. Mitchell teaches feminist activism and pop culture at York University where she is completing her PhD. Allyson is currently an artist in residence at the Gladstone Hotel.
