ARTIST STATEMENT
Strong, ruggedly handsome, well-hung Canadian, loves to be fondled, likes to be used, short or long-term, must be fun-loving. Big wood in Room 403, B.Y.O.B. (Bring your own baggage)
Room 403 is filled with rich textures and materials, warmth and sophistication, and refined modern shapes that won't threaten or overwhelm you. Touches of vivid colour and pattern provide an injection of fun and personality while allowing you space to relax, think, and actually put your things away. Flexible storage areas, a work space, an equipped kitchen, a beautiful view and a comfortable bed mean you'll have everything you need while you work or play away from home.
The wood furnishings and built-ins are based on _sobule design's bc series of modular wood furniture. Built of solid Douglas fir, each piece is traditionally hand joined with no metal hardware before being hand-distressed, stained, and finally oil-rubbed to protect and bring out the character of the wood, giving it an unusually beautiful finish. Each piece has a unique character according to the grain of the wood used in its production.

_sobule is in the business of critical, practical, and relevant design and design strategies executed with style, skill, and personality. Partners Amy McLaughlin and Aleksandr Niestroj share backgrounds in art, design, and production giving them a comprehensive arsenal to draw upon for both their own design and client-driven projects.
_sobule is founded on the philosophy that clients' needs and project criteria should come before designers' egos. It is their mandate to present design solutions, not inflict them. _sobule prizes flexibility of approach, the ability to realistically assess the possibilities and limitations of a project, and a client-friendly demeanour.
We are _sobule and we are open.
