The Elora Tarot Project was a two-year project involving the collaborative creation of a tarot deck, by 65 artists from Elora and surrounds, co-ordinated by local tarot enthusiast, Shelley Carter.
Each artist selected one to three tarot images to represent in their own inimitable style and medium. The images were then photographed and used in the production of a tarot deck.
The project culminated in the launch of The Elora Tarot Deck and an exhibition of the original artwork at the Wellington County Museum in the fall of 2013. The exhibition continues at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto from Jan 7 to 12, 2014.
There are three awesome realms to The Elora Tarot Deck:
-> It’s a unique and beautiful tarot deck!
-> It’s a snapshot of the Elora art scene at this particular moment in time. The deck itself serves as a mini art gallery of significant Elora artists.
-> It was a community builder! The artists had the rare opportunity to work together. Each card is a work of art in its own right, but is also part of a larger magnificent whole! The stories behind the artists can be found in the little white book that accompanies the deck.
