Grolsch Film Works, in Partnership with The Gladstone Hotel, Debuts Photographic Showcase from Acclaimed Photographer, Tyrone Lebon

Tyrone Lebon’s photographic exhibition “a lie about a lie, a truth about The truth” and original photographic documentary “Reely and Truly” will be unveiled in Toronto for a month-long showcase at The Gladstone Hotel. Directed and curated by reputed British photographer and filmmaker, Tyrone Lebon, “a lie about a lie, a truth about The truth” celebrates the vision and artistry of photographers from all points of the globe. Featuring both renowned names, like Marc Jacobs’ and Vivienne Westwood collaborator, Juergen Teller, and emerging talent, like Sean Vegezzi, who has generated buzz for sneaking into NYC’s restricted spaces to capture a vibrant view of the city, the two-pronged visual showcase provides a dynamic snapshot into the life of contemporary photographers.

Reely and Truly was commissioned by Grolsch Film Works, the iconic Dutch lager’s film platform created to support and champion independent film. “We were really taken with Tyrone’s passion and the innovative story he wanted to tell, and how he wanted to tell it,” said David Schmid, Global Marketing Manager of Grolsch. “He is an extraordinary talent, and it was an honour for Grolsch Film Works to play a role in bringing his vision to life.”

Lebon is widely recognized for his editorial and commercial fashion photography, shooting for New York Times Style Magazine, Vogue UK, Pop and i-D magazines, along with campaigns for Celine, Isabel Marant for H&M, Moschino and Calvin Klein Jeans. He shot Miley Cyrus’ infamous Bangerz album artwork, and has worked with the likes of Georgia May Jagger, Cara Delvingne and Daria Werbowy.

“Taking time to reflect on where I was at by being able to observe and talk to photographers I admire and am interested in felt like an exciting thing to do,” said Tyrone about the impetus behind creating the Reely and Truly showcase. “So in 2014, I made a decision to take six months off from shooting for myself to do a project that showcased my peers.”

The Reely and Truly showcase features the following photographers:

Mark Lebon, Dick Jewell, Juergen Teller, Jack Webb, Sean Vegezzi, Jason Evans, Nigel Shafran, Fumiko Imano, Charchakaj Waikawee, Lina Scheynius, Nobuyoshi Araki, Takashi Homma, Ari Marcopoulos, Jill Freedman, Nick Sethi, Asger Carlsen, Arne Svenson, Petra Collins, Tim Barber, Peter Sutherland, Renee Cox, Mario Sorrenti, and Lele Saveri.

The Reely and Truly documentary is being released via Canvas (canvas.grolsch.com), a new digital platform sponsored by Grolsch that is committed to promoting original cultural thinking and creativity. The film was created in collaboration with Somesuch Production Company and DoBeDo.
