Reggae or Not:The Birth of Dancehall Culture in Jamaica and Toronto presents photographs by Beth Lesser that document the history of modern reggae music and dancehall culture, celebrating the important story of Jamaican musicians of the 1970s and 80s. This exclusive exhibition is Lesser’s first public art exhibition – she travelled extensively between Toronto and Jamaica during the 70s and 80s documenting this emerging scene through her photographs and publication, Reggae Quarterly. This unique exhibition brings together the worlds of fashion, music and art through some never before seen photos from Lesser’s personal archive.
