One of our feature artists for this year’s Nuit Blanche at the Gladstone Hotel is Stephen Séguin, a young Canadian artist who works primarily in coloured pencil. In 2009, Stephen graduated with a BFA in Drawing & Painting from OCADU, completing his thesis in Florence, Italy.
Skilled in both representational and abstract art, Stephen has won numerous awards for technical skill and best in show, including winning People’s choice award at the Ontario College of Art & Design and the Dufferin County Museum while he was still a high school student. Since graduating, Séguin has demonstrated a motive to travel while experimenting in a diversity of new media, spending six months in British Columbia developing environment based installations, and three months in Europe practicing site-based painting and photography.
Séguin is represented by MANTA Contemporary Art Gallery where he will be having a solo exhibition titled Transmission in September 2013. More of his work can be seen at www.sseguin.com and www.mantacontemporary.com.
