Although our name is the Gladstone Hotel, often people forget that we are indeed an actual hotel. Well, not only are we a hotel, but we’re a recent Fodors 100 hotel winner (one of only 3 hotels in Canada to hold this privilege) with 37 unique rooms all designed by different Canadian artists and designers!
So when celebrity chef, TV host and artist Bob Blumer asked to re-imagine one of our 37 artist-designed rooms to reflect his creative sweet tooth for culinary aesthetics, we said yes! With construction starting today, we can almost taste the creative new suite aptly named, Surreal Gourmet. To help share our excitement, we’re holding a contest to see who will be the first to spend the night in the Surreal Gourmet suite. As a bonus, the winner (plus their overnight guest of choice) will also get the chance to meet Bob, get a personal tour of the room, and enjoy a bottle from his personally curated in-room wine selection!

You and a guest will be the first to check-in and spend the night in Bob Blumer’s Surreal Gourmet suite on Saturday November 2nd. You’ll also get a chance to meet Bob, have a personal tour of his Surreal Gourmet vision and drink a bottle from his personally curated in-room wine selection!
With help from Gladstone President Christina Zeidler and Project Manager Suanne McGregor, Bob’s been cooking up tons of food-inspired designs from original fixtures (pictured below) and surreal pillowcases to Fruit Loops finishing touches, the Surreal Gourmet suite, complete with a fully tricked-out kitchenette and a collection of Blumer’s favourite foodie films, is a very welcome addition to our unique room repertoire.
Best-known for his long-running reign on the Food Network, specifically as the host and creative force behind “Surreal Gourmet,” “Glutton for Punishment” and “World’s Weirdest Restaurants, Blumer is also a keen-eyed illustrator, cookbook author, cycling enthusiast and seven-time Guinness World Record Holder.
In partnership with Peller Estates, we’re donating 25 cents from each glass of Peller Family Series wine sold at the Gladstone to local Ontario food banks. Until Dec 23rd when you choose to support the local, VQA winery Peller Estates, you’ll also be supporting a local food bank.
With over over $10,000 raised last year, there’s never been a better time to order another glass of wine.
