Walking Life is a month long exhibit showcasing work created both by artists and community members that celebrates the experience of walking. The exhibit is sponsored by the City of Toronto and will continue until early October when the City is hosting the International Walk21 conference.

Whether we have a driver’Äôs license or Metropass, whether we bike or use a wheelchair, one thing we have in common is that we are all pedestrians at one time or another.  We all experience Toronto on foot, albeit to varying degrees, and, as a result, we each have our own Walking Life

Walking Life is a month long exhibit showcasing work created both by artists and community members that celebrates the experience of walking.  The exhibit will take place at The Gladstone Hotel beginning early September and will benefit from the increased interest and many guests who are likely to visit Toronto for the international and well-respected Walk21 conference, which the City is hosting in early October.

The goals for Walking Life are by no means profound.  In fact, the intentions are quite simple.  First and foremost, we hope to generate excitement about walking. We’Äôd like to inspire people to reclaim (aka: use!) the sidewalks as public space.  We’Äôd like to inspire people to think about the pedestrian experience.  And, we’Äôd like people to contemplate the environments in which they walk.  We have asked people of all kinds to convey their experiences through art, because the creative process has been known to stimulate contemplation, interesting discussion and even innovation.
