The Artist-Designed-Hotel-Room project was launched in 2005, long before Instagram, smart phones and selfie sticks. While our rooms were of course designed to be photogenic, they were (and still are) primarily about providing a real #livedexperience.
Hotel rooms need to be functional, bright and comfortable first and foremost. Having a hotel room be a good photo backdrop is an added bonus!
We’re not your venue for formal hotel photo shoots featuring big crews and equipment, but the Gladstone is always glad to see our guests documenting their real life experiences on the gram. Here are some of our favourite recent DIY shoots in the hotel. From art to local makers, we love the creativity!
A long time partner of the hotel’s GH Marketplace series, BeesButter is Toronto based line of handmade natural skin care products. Dorothy from BeesButter chose Room 404 (Canadiana) to showcase her amazing beeswax-based butters to her followers with a DIY photoshoot.
The Loft Urban Salon
Bowie at Twilight
This would certainly not be the first time that Room 405 (Parlour of Twilight) has been featured as a nostalgic backdrop. Project X-posed took some of our favourite shots in the space, putting together a perfect DIY David Bowie inspired look.
Making it Rain
Vancouver rapper Vials dropped by in Parlour of Twilight as well! The photoshoot ended up as the album cover for the artists’ newest single as she strives to disrupt the music landscape in the male dominated rap genre.
