Ana Jofre started exhibiting her figurative sculptures while teaching physics at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. She is currently a graduate student at OCAD University working on marionette characters that straddle the chasm between subject and object.
Life-sized marionette characters mingling among the viewers in a public space such as the Melody Bar or the Café. The marionettes will have human proportions such as to blend into the social environment. They have articulation at the knees, hips, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and neck, which allows a single character a large range of positions. They will be seated or standing and will be emoting an interpersonal situation. The goal is to emotionally engage the viewer and to invite the audience to investigate the unspoken interactions between individuals.
