What’s it all about?
Learn how to can and preserve spring produce! We’ll learn all about water-bath canning, talk about safety and science, and make some strawberry jam to take home. We’ll also chat about seasonality, what’s available in markets in the spring, and make some quick pickles and spring veg to snack on. Each attendee will leave with a jar of strawberry jam!
Who will be teaching?
Monica Bettson is a Community Chef at the Stop Community Food Centre, where she prepares healthy, local food for the Davenport/Perth neighbourhood and runs the Stop Café at the Wychwood Barns Farmers’ Market. An avid home canner, preserver, and gardener, she loves teaching people how to cook local food with international flavours.
