Not all three Rs of the environment are equal. Of course we talk a lot about recycling, but Torontonians on the whole aren’t hugely effective recyclers, with 25% of what’s collected in blue bins actually being unrecyclable (CBC). More importantly, recycling really should be a final resort when it comes to reducing environmental impact.
On April 20, the Gladstone is looking to be part of the solution: We’re partnering with Repair Cafe on an event that’s all about Re-use!
The Gladstone Community Clothing Swap will host expert volunteers from Repair Cafe to help guests mend frayed and detached clothing and jewellery.
Attendees will have the chance to learn the art of fixing their garments, rings and necklaces, while also building strong community connections. This is what a Repair Cafe is all about: It’s a value-driven global initiative that counters throw-away mentality through knowledge sharing.
