That’s So Gay: Love is a Battlefield
June 13 – August 18, 2019
Opening reception: Thursday June 20, 7-10pm
Pride exhibitions fill all three floors of galleries at the Gladstone, starting on June 13. We’re proud to present the tenth annual That’s So Gay, signature Gladstone exhibition, with the 10×10 Photography Project, now in its ninth year.
While the two exhibitions are conceptually separate, they are united in featuring LGBTTI2QQ artists and the works intermingle with each other, across all three floors of the hotel.
That’s So Gay : Love is a Battlefield is a group show celebrating new works by LGBTTI2QQ artists curated by Syrus Marcus Ware: “The 2019 subtitle, Love is a Battlefield, refers to the many fights in our lives: struggles for self determination, love, safety and more. Love is a Battlefield conjures images of lovers shoulder to shoulder in the fight for freedom, but also suggests the tensions we have between each other, the struggles for understanding and solid communication that so many humans have difficulty with.”
Artists: April Aliermo, Karen Miranda Augustine, S. Bear Bergman, Hampton Gerbrandt, Jah Grey, Alexa Hatanaka, Alanna Kibbe, Mishann Lau and Tijiki Morris, Chandra Melting Tallow, Oluseye and Fraser Collins, Sarah Sharkey Pearce and Mariangela Piccione, Leanne Powers, Moses Tan , Camille Turner
