Every month, we’ll be featuring unique ways to stay at the Gladstone Hotel. Last month we focused on the perfect stay for Art-lovers. This month we are looking at you, foodies! If you call yourself a food connoisseur or you’re just someone who loves to eat, Toronto in the fall season is a great place to visit to feed your eyes and fill your stomach. Read on to learn how to eat, drink and stay in the city!
Pick the Perfect Foodie-Inspired Room
Begin your stay with a home base that has been inspired by the snack lover inside all of us. Room 403: Surreal Gourmet, is designed by Food Network Canada host Bob Blumer. It’s a kitschy yet cool and vibrant interpretation of a culinary dream space. From the Swiss cheese canopy over the bed to the Froot Loops armoire and marshmallow pillows, there’s a lot to fill up on in this room!
Room 317: Aura Room, is also an excellent choice for food lovers. This colourful room is designed by Sarah Keenlyside, a Toronto restaurateur, chocolate maker and artist. Guests can also purchase Sarah’s own CXBO Chocolates and other Canadian sips and munchies from the hotel’s mini-bar!
Stop by the Cafe for a Farm-to-Table Meal
Locally sourced and sustainable ingredients make up the menus at our Hotel Cafe, with a focus on ethically sourced meats and seafood, organic veggies and unprocessed grains. If you want to know where the food on your plate is grown, just ask us and we can tell you!
Check Out Local Eats from Around the World
You can eat your way around the globe just by walking down the street in Toronto. The Queen West neighborhood holds a plethora of restaurants of different cuisines from around the world! Above are some of our favourite local spots within walking distance of the hotel. Whatever you’re in the mood for this neighborhood has it!
Enjoy a Nightcap at a Local Watering Hole
If you’re up for an evening beer or cocktail and want to see Queen West transform at night, mosey on over to a local watering hole and enjoy a drink! Within just a few blocks you can make your way from our Melody Bar to some of our other local favourites such as The Beaver, Pretty Ugly, & Sweaty Bettys.
Have your morning coffee with a Side of Drag Queen
Roll out of bed and head down to the Melody Bar, where you can satiate your hunger and satisfy your thirst with a Sunday Drag Brunch, hosted by our favourite drag queen Miss Moço! Enjoy a farm-fresh brunch with performances running every half an hour from 11am to 2pm.
